Bab al Shams Wedding | Styling Dubai-6
It gives me the very greatest of pleasure to share with you this very special wedding, not only because it was filled with absolute joy but also because I was lucky enough to have worked closely with Melanie & Tim to style and execute their elegant desert vision. There is no doubt that Bab al Shams is a beautiful venue with its Arabian decor and views of the desert.

Melanie’s beautiful bespoke dress was made by Barbaranne from House of Moirai and her look was finished off with makeup by Jill Elizabeth and carefully chosen accessories; Melanie was the very essence of a bridal elegance.

The blessing was held in a private courtyard at Bab al Shams and afterwards the guests were invited for cocktails on the rooftop followed by a falconry display and camel rides – the perfect slice of the UAE for overseas guests.

Melanie and Tim wanted to introduce a touch of their English roots with the vintage plates and crockery from my inventory which we paired with antique silver candles and signs which I created. One of the most fun aspects for me was creating their tableplan; an upcycled palette, some DIY and lots of foliage and flowers went into that little (or not so little as it turns out) project. Reesha from Pret a Papier was on hand to create the stationery and name places which pulled together all the aspects perfectly.

Captured oh so beautifully by Natelee Cocks I suggest you grab a cuppa and watch the story of the day unfold…..

Tabletop rentals

I started styling shoots two years ago purely to bring new inspiration to my blog and since then I have been lucky enough that it has opened new doors for me; styling lookbooks, styling interiors for campaigns & editorials and styling for events. Like I say, a lucky girl.

Over this time I scoured antique shops and trawled markets across the globe, looking for new and interesting items and found myself constantly drawn to the art of tablesettings and entertaining. It was this realisation that sparked the idea to offer a refined collection of tabletop items for rent.

I have carefully sourced these items from countries such as Portugal, Italy, France and the UK, all the time trying to ensure that what I am offering is of the highest quality and, even more importantly, is unique to Dubai.

After what feels like a lifetime of planning, researching and refining (believe me, this collection would have been 5 times larger if I could have afforded it!) I am incredibly excited to introduce images from the inventory with you today thanks to photographer extraordinaire Maria Sundin.

Whether you’re planning an intimate dinner party in your garden or throwing a more lavish event, I would absolutely love to help you make it even more memorable. I organise the delivery and pick up and even the washing of everything afterwards, so not only do you get extra special pieces but it is also totally stress-free.

For those that want their event taking to that next level then I also offer styling packages to ensure that your event is beautiful, elegant and unique. Weddings are of course a particular specialty of mine!

To know more about the prices involved in renting these pieces simply contact me:

My hope is that these pieces set the scene for some truly memorable and wonderful dinner parties, weddings and events throughout 2016……

Beautiful Wedding in Sweden by Maria Sundin Photography {lace in the desert}_0024

With so many brides planning their weddings from afar in Dubai, it is always a pleasure to feature ‘long distance weddings’, especially when the photography is a LITD favourite Maria Sundin and the wedding is in the beautiful and leafy Sweden.

Swedish Bride Maria and her South African husband Craig planned this wedding from Cape Town. Planning away from your chosen location can seem like a daunting task but today we get to inspire you and reassure you that it is truly worth it.

I’ll hand you over to bride Maria to share a little more on this truly international affair. Oh and there’s a whole lot of pretty too…..

How did the two of you meet?

We met at work in Stockholm, Sweden. We both worked for Absolut Vodka at the time so it will always be our preferred vodka. 🙂

How was the wedding planning process?

I did most of the planning of course with some support from Craig. We didn’t feel the need to involve a planner since we allowed ourselves with plenty of time to plan the wedding, 2 years from getting engaged. I love to organize parties and events and have also done this a bit professionally. I also had really specific thoughts on all the elements of the wedding and really enjoyed the planning process. We had a fair amount of DIY projects such as colorful bunting, handmade lace tambourines and handmade celebratory YAY/hooray flags. We also put a lot of effort into our table decorations consisting of a log centerpiece with a range of decorated glass jars with mixed wild Swedish summer flowers.

Lace in the Desert {The Studio}_0002

It is always great to see what our vendors have been up to and today I am thrilled to share some of the highlights from photographers The Studio. With an all female team, The Studio are privileged to be able to capture some of the most beautiful Emirati weddings and whilst we cannot share those images we can take a sneak peek into some of the other beautiful weddings they have captured over 2015.

For now I’ll pass you over to Jess at The Studio to tell you more about their year, ‘We have been privileged to shoot not only some amazing western weddings at the below locations…But also covered many Lady only and emirati weddings. We love how we are an ALL female wedding team – This is why we are so popular amongst the local community. Our style is classic and beautiful – We have amazing packages to suit all needs 🙂

We were the photography partners for the Address wedding fair Downtown – This also helped us promote our amazing photobooth “Selfie – Box” which is becoming so popular with couples to use on their wedding day! It is portable, fully customisable and also wifi enabled so people can post photos from the wedding straight to their own facebook and instagram. It also instantly prints 4×6 image in less than 9 seconds.

We did a few styled shoots, including collaborating with Aghareed for their breast cancer awareness shoot, Sponsa Bridal, and also a recent hair and make up styled shoot with Dee & Dal.

We are also going to be working very closely next year with our sister company bareface entertainment – hoping to offer couples new exciting pacakges which can include, entertainment, hair & make-up plus photography & videography.’

Lace in the Desert {Purple Chair} Desert Palm Wedding_0010

This wedding is b-e-a-utiful. The imagery from Joem Aldea will show you that and to explain more about the vision behind the day I will pass you over to the ladies at The Purple Chair,

‘Rasha and Saad had their heart set on an Arabesque theme from the start. They knew exactly what they wanted and were looking for planners to bring their dream to life. We worked with the couple to create an Arabesque theme infused with touches of boho chic. The lovely Desert Palm hotel was the setting for this wedding. We chose to work with a muted earthy palette with hints of Lavender, desert sand and matte gold

The guests dined on tables with traditional Arabic “Jarra” clay pots filled with beautiful blooms. To create a lovely ambiance we used a combination of different gorgeous moroccan lanterns, traditional oil lamps and maroon romantic candlesticks.
Rich patterned persian carpets and cushions were added to the lounge area for a cosy touch. For wedding stationary we used Retro Arabic typography with an arabesque wall pattern infused with floral illustrations inspired from the centrepieces.
The cake was the cherry on top at the wedding. With a beautiful custom made Arabic typography topper and jaw dropping florals, this naked cake was definitely nothing short of unique (and delicious!!)’
